Tidbit from the Cove: Boehm fine porcelain collectible sculptures are designed and manufactured in limited editions by E. M. Boehm, Inc. The Boehm porcelain company is one of the world's leading manufacturers of true hard paste porcelain, with clients from presidents, prime ministers, kings and queens, to businessmen and Hollywood celebrities. Each Boehm porcelain sculpture is hand-crafted in the Boehm Porcelain studio in Trenton, New Jersey.
Permanent collections of Boehm porcelain sculptures are featured in 137 museums worldwide, including the White House, the Vatican, the Smithsonian, and Buckingham Palace.
The Boehm Porcelain Studio specializes in meticulously crafted hard-paste porcelain, figurine sculptures. Boehm creates pure porcelain sculptures from top-quality pure white clay and fires the pieces for 24 hours, re-firing between each color application. The colors used on Boehm porcelain figures are extracted as rock from the earth, then pulverized and incorporated in the sculpture to bring life and vibrant color to the figure.
Edward Marshall Boehm an artist in the truest sense, lived his life studying the thousands of live birds in his personal aviary... and only after much reflection on each species did he draft a drawing and then begin to sculpt the life-like pieces we have come to adore.
